Georgia J. Cowart is professor of music at Case Western Reserve University. Her books include Triumph of Pleasure: Louis XIV and the Politics of Spectacle, also published by the University of Chicago Press. She served as guest curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2009 exhibition Watteau, Music, and Theater and, from 2022 to 2024, as president of the American Musicological Society.
